Transitional colors, transitional clothing: Wear these pieces year round
Before a new season starts, women around the world pack away certain clothing items and replace them with more weather-appropriate items. Although this has become a common practice, it doesn’t have to be. There are plenty of ways fashionistas can transition their wardrobe from one season to another without getting out their boxes and large bins.
Here are just a few tips on how to take certain colors and clothing from one season to the next:
“Sundresses and casual shorts can be worn in colder months, with the right pairings.”
Maximize sundress wear with appropriate additions
One of the first items women will attempt to pack away are those wardrobe pieces they believe are designated for summer only. Sundresses and casual shorts for women are just two examples that can actually be worn in colder months, with the right pairings. Take a summery dress and add tights and a turtleneck for a jumper look that is sure to turn heads. Don’t be afraid to wear a warmer blazer jacket in a thicker fabric over the outfit to make it more work appropriate. The same additions can transition shorts from summer to fall.
Layering is your best friend
You don’t want to have bare arms in the wintertime, but maybeĀ your office’s heat makes your workplace feel like a sauna. Layering can fix this problem. Wear a neutral camisole or flowy tank top under cardigans, shrugs and jackets during any time spent outside. Feel free to remove an item once you get inside. These outfits are still suitable for work, but enable you to grab drinks with friends or dinner with your spouse in a more casual option.
Accessories never go out of season
You’re not going to wear gloves during the summertime, but other than that, you can still wear many of your favorite pieces of jewelry, purses and other accessories no matter the time of year. Use a colorful fashion scarf in a light fabric – like linen or satin – to add a pop of color to a neutral winter look or pair a felt hat with a summery dress to add a boho chic vibe. Replicate the Hermes classic style by tying a scarf to your women’s handbagĀ for an accessory that will have others copying your sense of style. Keep rocking ankle boots into the summer with a fun pair of shorts or women’s skinny jean on cooler days.
Printed tops melt the winter chill
When it’s 10 degrees outside and there’s snow on the ground, it’s likely there’s no place you’d rather be than the tropics. In these instances, we know shorts and tights may not cut it. Bring a tropical sensibility to your winter wonderland by utilizing bold colors and prints in your wardrobe. A graphic knit top in a beachy pattern – one with palm tree leaves, for example – or in a neon shade will put a smile on your face, as well as those around you. Just keep thinking “There’s no place like the beach,” and soon enough those warm months will be here.
Long skirts are extremely versatile
Whether it’s a maxi or midi option, long skirts are perfect for every season. These versatile pieces can be worn with a tucked-in tank top or blouse in the warmer months, or paired with a ladies sweater or athleisure sweatshirt during the winter. The key is finding one in the right fabric. You won’t want to wear a wool skirt in the summer or a linen version when it’s cold. Feel free to experiment with this wardrobe staple. Add a belt, a cardigan and women’s pumps to the mix for fall or pair it with colorful wedges and statement accessories in the spring.
