Fall footwear styles

Put away the sandals and swimsuits, ladies, because the beautiful – and cool – fall season is here! It’s time to break out your old favorites in footwear, or revamp your wardrobe to include some new shoe styles. When you’re at work or out for lunch with the girls, you’ll want your look to be as fashion-forward as possible. Make that happen with the right footwear choices for fall. Here are four shoe styles you’ll need in your closet this season:

1. Bold boots

Bold patterns are in this season, including the ones you wear on your feet. Don’t slip on just any old boot. Opt for a pair that really showcases your personality. Cowgirl boots are especially popular when it comes to displaying a fun print. They often have western-themed designs or bold flowers printed right on the shoe. Go even bolder by selecting shoes with a variety of textures or embellishments.

Additionally, make sure the boot has a heel. Not only will it instantly elongate your body, but boots with a little lift are by far the easiest heels to wear because they stay on your feet. Wear these styles with a pair of denim jeans for a more casual look.

2. Tall boots

Boots are going bold in more ways than just patterns. They are also getting taller. Boots that reach up to your knee will not only be trending this season, but they can help keep you warm during the chilly months. With the right style, they can fit any body type. When shopping for wide-calf boots, for example, look for elastic or lace. Plus, they can be worn with pretty much any bottoms. Slip them over a pair of jeans, don them with tights under a skirt or wear them with a pair of leggings and a tunic.

3. Embellished footwear

Get a little flashy this fall with flats, boots and heels featuring your favorite gems and stones. Sparkle is trending this season – as it always should be – so select footwear that will really let you light up the room. By opting for an embellished shoe, you’ll draw attention toward the bottom half of your body. This is great for women who want to distract from a heavier top or put the focus on their long, lean legs.

Metallic embellishments are especially standout because they can pick up the light, adding a subtle shine to your style. However, don’t limit yourself to silver and gold. Flower embellishments, especially on dainty flats, are fun and flirty and can create more visual interest for your style.

4. Multi-colored shoes

Whether the footwear hosts a blend of complementing hues or boasts a stark contrast of shades, you’ll see tons of women with multi-colored shoes this fall. Since bold seems to be in this season, reflect that element in how you combine colors in your shoes. Instead of selecting flats with subtle hints of complementing shades, opt for stand-out pumps and tall boots that incorporate several hues.

However, when choosing a heel, make sure it’s a closed-toe shoe. With the cooler weather, this type of footwear will keep your toes a little warmer. Plus, you may decide to wear a fun pair of tights to combat the chillier climate, and closed-toe shoes will work better with this legwear.
